Score Requirements
For the 2002 Series GED Tests, the minimum passing standard set by the GED Testing Service® is an average standard score of 450 or greater across the five content area tests (a total standard score of 2250 or greater) and, in addition, a standard score of 410 or greater on each content area test.
No score on the English form of the test achieved before January 1, 2002 can be used with a 2002 score. No score on the Spanish form of the test achieved before January 1, 2004 can be used with a 2004 score.
Retesting Policy
When any single exam is failed (score less than 410), there is a required 6 month waiting period prior to retesting. An exception to this policy can be made if the examinee obtains a Retest Letter from the teacher of a GED Preparation program or a private tutor. The teacher or tutor must be certified by the State of Texas.
Scores of 410 or above are not considered to be failing, therefore no waiting period or retest letter is required to retake the exam.
